Seven Scenes of Scandal

with David Cuthbert
21st January 2017

Fee: £52
Art and artists have caused controversy, sometimes resulting in prosecution, imprisonment and death. During this day we will look at seven themes including theft and forgery, vandalism, sex, violence, blasphemy, tabloid hysteria and repression with lots of interesting and provocative images. The stories will not be limited to Europe and the US but will include scandals from Mexico, Pakistan, South Africa and Japan. From this country we will look at some well-known scandals but also others less well remembered such as Genesis P. Orridge and Cosey Fanny Tutti at the ICA, and the strange case of RAF Fauld.
All-comers welcome.
